Endorsed Candidates

The following candidates are up for election or re-election on the May 9, 2015 City of Rosenberg election. After serious consideration we created this website and published ROSENBERG 2015 INDEPENDENT VOTERS GUIDE. The guide endorses these candidates with no disrespect to the other candidates. At this time Rosenberg needs a City Council willing to tackle the challenges with their own view but with a unified goal. We are convinced these candidates are the best to accomplish it.

Cynthia McConathy for Mayor

Mayor Pro Tem Cynthia McConathy should be the next Mayor of Rosenberg. Her thorough and thoughtful approach towards the pressing issues challenging the city makes her the only choice for Mayor. She’s fully dedicated to the city and its citizens in contrast to the present mayor and her opponent.

Her dedication and service is unequal. Whether it’s environmental concern, moral circumstances, fiscal decisions, growth and development planning, city services, personnel issues, police and fire protection and all aspect of local government she’s a significant part of reaching consensus and creating solutions.

Mayor Pro Tem McConathy’s professional experience, tireless dedication, conservative stance, moral standing and proven leadership profoundly qualify her to be the next Mayor of Rosenberg. We endorse her and encourage the citizens to vote for her.

William T. Benton for At Large, Position 1

Councilor Benton is owner of several small businesses and an active member in several community organizations. His passion is serving people.

He's a fiscal conservative in favor of lower taxes and responsible expending. He has been the voice of opposition for the unpopular project of the one-way pairing of Avenue H and I.

As Councilor he has changed the way candidates campaign and do business in city government. His personal one-on-one approach, responding to every call and email and advocating for the citizens has earned him the respect of the vast majority of citizens. He can be polarizing with some but his dedication and resolve is unquestionable. Councilor Benton should be re-elected with an outstanding majority.

Amanda J. Barta for At Large, Position 2

On her first term as Councilor for District 4 she has taken on challenging issues and made gutsy decisions. She has opposed the one-way pairing of Avenue H and I following the wishes of the vast majority of contituents that oppose the project. She has supported 2 property tax reductions and is commited to more reduction when possible. Supports Proposition 1 which establishes 3 term limits for city council members.

Her pro-citizen approach, lower property taxes and accountable spending principle has earned her the esteem of other council members and constituents. We endorse Councilor Barta election for At Large, Position 2.  Rosenberg City Council  and the citizens of the city will continue to benefit from her experience and conservative stance.

Jimmie J. Peña for District 1

Councilor Peña is seeking re-election after a productive 1st term. In less than 2 years at City Council he voted in favor of 2 property tax cuts. He supported the 2 petitions submitted by citizens to City Council in regards to the one-way pairing of Avenue H and I. He was instrumental in upgrading water and sewer main lines which benefits the downtown and North Rosenberg area.

He supports the upcoming term-limit proposition. He is fully committed with establishing Rosenberg as a train horn quiet zone. He supports commercial and residential development, specifically in his district.

Councilor Peña's dedication and hard work is noticeable. We endorse his re-election and encourage voters of District 1 to support him.

Susan Euton for District 2

Councilor Euton merits re-election. She’s been administrating her family business, serving a local church and the community most of her adult life.

She holds a Bachelor in Business and a Masters of Accounting from Rice University along with a CPA license. She brings a level of business and accounting expertise unmatched by her opponent. She previously served as City Council At Large and currently as Councilor for District 2.

Rosenberg benefits greatly from Councilor Euton's fiscal responsibility and number crunching philosophy. We highly endorse her re-election for City Council, District 2.

No Endorsement for District 3

The ballot will have 3 candidates. Sergio Villagomez has cancel campaign for personal reasons. Sergio has been one of the main voice in the opposition of the unpopular one-way pairing of Avenue H and I.

We don't have the conviction that Joe Vera or Lisa M. Wallingford will support low property taxes, less government intervention, property rights and respect the opinion of majority in regards to the one-way pairing of Avenue H and I. Therefore, we can't endorse.

However, those voters that don't feel comfortable with the candidates can vote for Sergio Villagomez as a protest. If the name gathers enough votes for a runoff, City Council may call for a special election.
Lynn Moses for District 4

Mrs. Moses strives to be part of the solution to the issues facing Rosenberg as it continues to grow. She was born and raised in Rosenberg. She has business experience and actively serves in her church, home owners association and child’s school.

Now, she’s ready to serve the citizens of Rosenberg. She believes City Government should be fiscally responsible. She fully supports new developments and believes the city needs a strategy so the growth benefits every resident. She favors making Rosenberg a Quiet Zone. Keeping property taxes and city fees low. And, fully supports Proposition 1 which is on the May 9, 2015 election.

Her new ideas based on her business experience and extensive volunteer work throughout her lifetime will be a breath of fresh air for City Council. We enthusiastically endorse her election for District 4.
